I went to school hungry
Was slow with my bath
I went to school hungry
Could not do my math I went to school hungry Stomach growled at me I went to school hungry
I smelled the flavor of
Cinnamon oatmeal
Mom placed on the table Though late I appeared. But when I pulled chair out To sit down and pig out
Dad cleared his throat loudly And said, “Excuse me.
Girl, it’s time to go.
You got dressed way too slow. Can’t be late for school.
That’s an important rule.
No time to sit down to eat
Breakfast— don’t frown— sorry You must follow rules
Just like mom and me.”

Likewise, children often take more of everything available at mealtime, whether or not they have recently eaten, and wind up unable to finish the food on their plates. This could happen when a child does not have a big appetite or because a child ruined his or her appetite by eating a snack before a meal. Read more HERE

In attempt to compensate for their guilt, some parents repeatedly allow onlys to have their way for requests that should be denied. What’s worse is overprotection could instill messages in onlys’ minds that they‘re incapable of accomplishing certain tasks and should only attempt such tasks at the approval of and sometimesoversight of their parents.
